Colin Jensen is the Chief Executive of Brisbane City Council, the largest local government in Australia.  Council has an annual budget of $3.4 billion, an asset base of $20 billion and serves a population of 1.1 million people.

Prior to joining Council in August 2010, Colin had a successful career in the Queensland Government, most recently as the Coordinator-General and Director-General of the Department of Infrastructure and Planning.

In that role, Colin was responsible for overseeing the delivery of the largest infrastructure program in Queensland’s history, modernising the State’s planning and development system, reforming Queensland’s local government system and shaping a new organisation following a departmental restructure in 2007.  As the key infrastructure program manager, he presided over a capital program of $18.2 billion – a record for any Australian government.

Colin was Deputy Director-General of Queensland Transport from July 2006 to September 2007. In this role he was responsible for overseeing and coordinating the State’s transport infrastructure program, for integrated transport planning, passenger transit systems and information and financial management.

Previously, Colin worked for the Department of Main Roads, departing the Department as General Manager (Road System and Engineering) – the Department’s chief engineer.  In this role he ensured that the Department had the technical expertise, systems and people capability to meet the demands and risks associated with the management of $30 billion of road infrastructure across Australia’s most decentralised state.

Colin is a Director on the Boards of CitySmart, Translink Transit Authority and City of Brisbane Investment Corporation. Colin supports the indigenous community through his continuing work with the community of Aurukun in Cape York.
