Fiona is Vice President, External Relations at Rio Tinto Energy. Rio Tinto Energy group’s portfolio comprises thermal coal and coking coal operations, and uranium, with interests in Australia, Namibia, Mozambique and Canada.
Fiona is responsible for the policy development and strategic positioning of the Energy Product Group and its coal and uranium businesses with respect to sustainable development, climate change, community and Aboriginal relations, media, communications and government relations.
Fiona joined Rio Tinto in 1994 and has held a number of management positions in various Rio Tinto businesses, including General Manager Sustainable Development for Rio Tinto’s Energy product group. In this role she developed the sustainable development framework for the Energy Group and facilitated its implementation across each of Rio Tinto’s energy businesses. Fiona was also engaged in strategic work in promoting low emission coal activities within Australia and internationally. Most recently she has been General Manager – External Relations for the Energy Group’s coal business in Australia.
Fiona holds a Bachelor of Natural Resources with Honours, a Masters of Business Administration and is a graduate of the Australian Institute of Company Directors. Fiona has worked in the resources industry for more than 20 years. In 2012 Fiona accepted a position on the board of The Brisbane Institute.
