The US-Australia Alliance

U.S. Consul General Judith Fergin spoke about the strong U.S.-Australia alliance and our close cooperation tackling global challenges from Afghanistan to climate change under the administration of President Barack Obama. She also examined the economic outlook in the United States and international efforts to stimulate a recovery.

Dr Jay Lehr

What: Lecture by internationally renowned speaker, scientist and author Dr Jay Lehr on climate change and global warming
When: 13 August 2009
Where: Eagle Street Conference Centre, Brisbane

Dr Lehr’s address focused on the political and economic consequences of introducing a scheme to tax an essential natural element of life on earth – carbon dioxide. He described the proposed Carbon Pollution Reduction Scheme (CPRS) Bill as the most important taxation and wealth transfer legislation to go before parliament in decades, but warned the consequences of the legislation were poorly understood.
