Today’s youth are confronted with an array of pressures, temptations and societal challenges that can prompt them to ignore the dangers and ‘live fast’. At this sold-out event, our group of expert panelists discussed some of the biggest challenges facing today’s youth and suggested ways young people can help themselves and their peers to survive the danger years.

Elizabeth Fraser, Commissioner for Children and Young People and Child Guardian, discussed Creating child-friendly cities;  Jonty Bush, anti-violence campaigner and former CEO of the Qld Homicide Victims Support Group talked about teen violence and the One punch can kill campaign; Elizabeth Cullen, Queensland Policy Manager, Left-Right Think Tank spoke on Youth homelessness; Maggie Dent, author, parent and resilience specialist, covered Developing positive adolescent relationships; Jacinta Hawgood, Deputy Director, Australian Institute for Suicide Research and Prevention, Griffith University, talked about Preventing teen suicide.
