Professor Linda Blackall, Research Team Leader, Australian Institute of Marine Science

Professor Blackall is an international leader in the fields of biological wastewater treatment and molecular method development in microbial ecology. Her research revolves around the application of molecular and genetic technologies to describe and understand complex microbial communities, and to study microbial community structure, architecture, communication and function. Professor Blackall moved from the University of Queensland to the Australian Institute for Marine Science (AIMS), located in Townsville, where she is now the team leader for the Marine Microbes Research Group.
