Keynote address: Rhonda White

Rhonda White qualified with a Diploma of Pharmacy from QIT in 1963, and is a founder of the Terry White Chemists Group. Rhonda also holds a Bachelor of Arts and Postgraduate Diploma in Organisational Psychology, University of Queensland. Rhonda identified early the need to develop systems and disciplines for innovative retail management practices to respond to emerging retail pressures. She also recognised the social and industry trends working to ensure rapid growth in the pharmaceutical industry.

Rhonda currently serves as a board member of TWC Group Investment Limited and is a trustee of the Queensland Performing Arts Trust (QPAT). She has also been a director of a number of government and private  companies, including Energex Retail, Ergon Energy, the Terry White Chemists Board, was a foundation member of the Nudgee College Board and was Foundation Chairman of the Queensland Cancer Fund Volunteers Committee.

Rhonda is acknowledged as one of Brisbane’s most successful businesswomen. In 2000, she received the Leading Women Entrepreneurs of the World Star Group International Award in Venice. In 2004, the Pharmacy Guild honoured her with a Distinguished Service Award. Rhonda has also been awarded the Pharmacy Practice Medal of Excellence, University of Sydney 2006 and the Outstanding Alumni Award for Faculty of Science, Queensland University of Technology 2007. She was inducted into the Queensland Business Leaders Hall of Fame in September 2011 in recognition of exceptional entrepreneurship and innovation in national retailing, and significant contributions to the community.

In December 2011, Rhonda was awarded the Degree “Doctor of the University” by Griffith University in recognition of her distinguished services to the Pharmacy Industry and to the University.

Liz Crawford

Liz Crawford is the National Practice Leader of KPMG’s Executive Search and Selection. She assists boards with the appointment of Non-Executive Directors and Chief Executive Officers from the Australian and international markets, and advises on appropriate remuneration and performance metrics for CEO and executive roles. She also works with senior executive teams to identify, attract and select suitable executive and senior management candidates across most functions, and specialist roles. Her extramural activities centre on her passion for leadership and working with communities to achieve beneficial outcomes.

Since joining KPMG in 2005, Liz has assisted clients in the private and public sectors in the appointment of CEOs and senior executives, and has also served on a not-for-profit board.

Paul Spiro WEB

Paul Spiro

Paul Spiro is the Chairman of Gadens Lawyers Brisbane, one of Queensland’s largest law firms, and has led the firm through a sustained period of extraordinary growth and innovation. He has specialist experience with all matters involved in commercial property including sales and acquisitions, property development and project financing, infrastructure development, and leasing. He also has expertise in the realm of rail infrastructure and transport matters and has represented government-owned corporations on a number of major developments and transactions.

Paul is an active member of the Property Council of Australia, the Urban Development Institute of Australia and the Law Council of Australia General Practice section, and is the chair of The Brisbane Institute.
